Engagement

Strip District, Pittsburgh engagement session

This time of year is always a bit nostalgic for Erika and Zac; they met at a bonfire during homecoming five years ago at California University. These cool nights and colorful leaves remind them of when they first started to get to know each other and how quickly they fell in love.

So of course we planned their engagement session for the time of year that means the most to them - and was almost one year to the day of when they will marry next year. The Strip District in Pittsburgh has no shortage of interesting locations and these two didn’t mind that I stopped them every few minutes when some piece of architecture or lighting grabbed my attention. They just smiled at each other and cuddled and laughed together and you can just tell that theirs is a love that’s comfortable and easy.

Erika and Zac, I am so looking forward to spending the day with you next fall when we celebrate yet another milestone in your relationship!

National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. Engagement Session

When I realized that Lisa and Oliver lived in Washington D.C., despite the Pittsburgh PA wedding and celebration they're planning for later this fall, I jumped at the chance to head to D.C. to photograph their engagement session.  Our plans got waylaid.. twice.  The session was first scheduled in the spring but needed to be rescheduled when we realized the Pittsburgh Penguins (go figure!) would be in D.C. to play the Capitals in the playoffs.  We rescheduled for mid summer in hopes of lovely warm weather and lots of wandering around monuments.  When the weekend planned called for torrential downpours instead, Lisa and Oli didn't let that get them down and instead decided we'd move indoors to the National Gallery of Art - and I am so glad we did!  It may have been raining buckets outside, but we were cozy and able to take our time strolling through the galleries and getting some awesome shots among the artwork and architecture.

Thanks so much you two for letting me capture these for you!  It was so fun and I'm excited for October!
